2. Criminal Defence under Ukrainian Law
Criminal defence is one of the key practices of the firm. We represent clients in criminal proceedings, assist during investigative actions, develop defence strategies, work with evidence and protect the procedural rights of the client.
We act both for suspects, accused persons and individuals subject to procedural actions, and for victims, business owners, company officers and legal entities facing criminal-law risks.
Criminal proceedings are not only a legal procedure. They may involve pressure, reputational risk, searches, interrogations, seizure of documents, arrest of assets, temporary access to information and attempts to use criminal proceedings as an instrument of influence.
For this reason, we begin with an assessment of the client’s status, risks, documents, evidence, procedural situation and possible actions of the opposing side. We then define the strategy: what must be recorded, which documents must be filed, which actions should be challenged, how to act during investigative actions and how to build the position for the future.
We assist with
defence during pre-trial investigation; attorney support during searches, interrogations and other investigative actions; representation of victims; defence of business in criminal proceedings; challenging actions of investigators, prosecutors or other authorities; preparation of applications, complaints, motions and legal positions; court representation.
